HEALTHCARE

Medical Care for the Underprivileged

Benefiting Families

3.4 Million

For underprivileged people who cannot afford medical care, we provide healthcare services without charge.

AKHUWAT HEALTHCARE SERVICES

In Pakistan, millions of people live below the poverty line. These people, many of them elderly, cannot afford basic health care. Without treatment that could cure or make their ailments manageable, their quality of life suffers. In some cases, their illnesses can prove fatal without intervention.
Akhuwat runs healthcare projects for underprivileged communities in Pakistan. We provide examinations and consultations without charge, followed by subsidised medicines and laboratory tests, where necessary. To date we’ve provided half a million people with treatment for diabetes, tuberculosis, hepatitis and other prevalent conditions that require long-term management and care, without any charge.
By donating to the Akhuwat Health Centre, you can help an elderly person get the treatment he/she needs to manage an illness which might otherwise prove fatal.

GIFTS OF THEIR DREAMS

Sometimes, even the best medical care isn’t enough to save a life. And when children are affected, we feel altogether helpless. This is why Akhuwat runs the ‘Gifts of their Dreams’ Project; a project that’s very close to our hearts. For terminally-ill children from poor families, ‘Gifts of their Dreams’ provides a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Through it, we give children who haven’t long to live, a gift or experience they’ve always dreamed of.
As part of this project, Akhuwat also runs playrooms in public hospitals. For paediatric patients, who often spend many months in hospitals, our playrooms serve as a space in which they can be children again. Through play, learning and social interaction with other kids, they can overcome the psychological challenges associated with prolonged periods of illness and treatment.
By donating to our ‘Gifts of their Dreams’ project, you can give a child that doesn’t have long to live, the best day of his/her life.
